In the US, hospice care is largely done at home. It must be more like what you call respite care.

Continuing to thin of you; glad for the few good days.

I wish you and your mother peace. I, personally, believe that a person's end of life should be filled with great dignity. I echo the recommendation for hospice, if it's available. You should speak with your own children to hear what they feel they can handle.

It's so hard to witness the end of a parent's life. The greatest comfort after they're gone is that you were there for them when it counted. Whether that time is at the end of life or sometime before, it is great comfort to know that you made your peace with them.

I"m so sorry to hear of your mother's declining health. I know this has been a long battle. I would second Doc Thelma's hospice recommendation. They were incredibly helpful to my friend's family when she was in the end stages recently. As to the kids, I wouldn't keep them away in general, but I'd also weigh their own maturity levels and your ability to care for them during a time when you are likely to react more as a daughter than as a mother when deciding if they should be there at the very end. It's a tough call.

I'm so sorry for your impending loss. Does your country have hospice organizations to assist at times like this? When my MIL died of cancer they were very helpful at advice like who to call, what to tell children, etc.

Our prayers are with you.

I can't decide what sounds better, a night in or a weekend away. Add the pajamas and I'd say stay home.

Oh dear! Sorry for Sparkle's teacher struggles.

(Being still fall here, it seems so odd to hear there are only 6 weeks of school left there!)
