I am thrilled to bits to see that the residents of the most powerful country in the world have made a decision that will have a lasting impact on the world – for the greater good. For so many reasons, Barrack Obama is the right man for the job.
He’s young and passionate and has a history of looking out for social issues. Someone that cares about small communities and individuals is well prepared to care for an enormous community.
He’s a black man. It’s time. To see a black man become a world leader in my lifetime is a miracle and I think that is what makes the occasion truly historic.
The republicans have been in power too long and it’s time for a change. Any political party left in too long seems to start a decaying process. Change is a good thing and the pendulum is swinging back. Maybe it will eventually swing too far in the other direction in the future – then it will be time for change once more. For now, a different direction is desperately needed.
The world is in crisis. Global economic disasters. Two wars that are dragging on far too long. Climate change and the resistance so many countries have shown to change. All these things need addressing and improving.
I believe with my whole heart that Obama is the man to lead these changes.
I also believe that the American Empire is crumbling. Humankind has lived through the persian empire, the roman empire, the british empire. I’m sure there are lots I can’t name! We have lived in the age of the American Empire and I think it’s declining and disappearing. My guess is the next great world empire will be China – if not China, somewhere in Asia. It is heartening to feel that America will have a man of courage and conviction to lead them into difficult times.
As for John McCain – well he has a lot of redeeming qualities as well. I don’t think he would have been a bad president. But he wouldn’t have been special. He’s too old for one thing. Nobody should contend for the presidency for the first time once they hit 70. It’s not fair to the people. Over 40 and under 70 seems reasonable …
And Sarah Palin? Well she seems flat out dangerous. She frightens me. If the world goes in that direction I think we’re heading for disaster. The dark ages. The abolition of all sorts of rights. She may be beautiful and glamorous, but she doesn’t have a clue. In my opinion! Anyone that kills animals for fun is questionable as a leader.
Congratulations America. Wonderful, wonderful outcome. I wish President Obama strength and courage to face the difficult times ahead and to fulfill the endless promises and dreams.
